The Girl in the Hallway (Horror Flash Fiction)

Image
The Girl in the Hallway By E. Reyes My hair feels like it grew an inch. Goose bumps ran all over my body, raising every strand of hair possible. I was alone at home, but I just saw someone walk in the hallway. Whoever it was came out from my parent's bedroom. I was watching Hell's Kitchen when from my peripheral view I saw someone walk by. The hair-raising chills did not fade, but I decided to get up anyway. I didn't want to call out and ask who was there because if it was an intruder I didn't want them to know I was coming. What if they had a gun? Some sort of weapon? I decided to walk over to the hallway slowly. Chef Ramsey provided good background noise in case my footsteps were a little too loud. After I approached the entrance to the hallway I took a peek. The hallway was extremely dark. My bedroom door was closed and so was my sister's. And the weirdest part, my parent's bedroom door was closed, too. But I did not hear it clos...

(Review) Clive Barker's Hellraiser (1987)

Image
Clive Barker's Hellraiser (1987) 🎃🎃🎃🎃 "We have such sites to show you!" Clive Barker's Hellraiser is about a man named Frank, whom, wanting to experience a pleasure unlike any other, finds a box--a puzzle box, that can open a world to extreme pleasure, so he uses it in hopes to reach that level of ecstasy. But that extreme pleasure is extreme pain. And the naked and beautiful women he hopes for (said in the book) happens to be a gang of Cenobites from hell that partake in giving pain so extreme that it is pleasurable. What I liked about this movie is that it has great practical effects for its time. I mean, 1987--the year I was born! So it was cool to see monsters and gore and wounds happening with practical effects instead of the weary and sometimes corny-looking CGI that every movie uses these days. Like those super hero movies. I don't understand why they don't just make them full-on CGI. Anyway. Of course we get the super-duper late 80s ...

(Review) The Dark Half (1993)

Image
The Dark Half  (1993) 🎃🎃 "He's my dark half." The Dark Half is a horror movie directed by George A. Romero , who also did the screenplay. The movie is an adaption of Stephen King's novel of the same name. It stars Timothy Hutton , Michael Rooker , Amy Madigan . Thad Beaumont (Timothy Hutton) had been writing under the pseudonym of George Stark--even using a phony author photo--until a meddling weasel funds out and black mails him. Not wanting to pay thousands to the weasel (I sure as hell wouldn't) Thad Beaumont decides to go public with his secret of writing under George Stark. For a photo shoot, Thad metaphorically buries George Stark. Soon after, an evil presence is alive and slitting throats with a razor. What I like about the movie? Well, I love how George A. Romero directed films. He had an eye for wonderful scenes (watch the birds fly)) and he knew how to make something suspenseful and dreadful. I also enjoyed the performances by Michael R...

(Review) The Lost Boys (1987) - Just In Time for Its 31st Anniversary!

Image
The Lost Boys (1987) 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 On July 31st, 1987, The Lost Boys was released in theaters. I was summoned to Earth that very year, and had only watched parts on television or clips on social media, so I was never able to fully watch the movie for some reason. Well, thanks to Netflix , that has changed. I watched The Lost Boys. And 31 years later, I'm a huge fan. The Lost Boys is about two brothers, Michael (Jason Patric) and Sam (Corey Haim), who move from Phoenix to Santa Clara with their mother Lucy (Dianne Wiest) after an ugly divorce. They settle in with their grandpa (Barnard Hughes) and soon discover that Santa Clara has something mysterious and evil hidden behind it's carefree living, carnival amusements, and concerts. And what might that be? Vampires! First off, this is one of the very few 80s horror films that isn't melting and gooey with cheese. I mean, sure, the movie is, at times, a walking time capsule for 80s culture, but this doesn't rui...

(Review) Halloween Night II by R.L. Stine

Image
🎃🎃🎃 Halloween Night II by R.L. Stine is a fun, suspenseful, teen chiller that is perfect to read for Halloweentime.  Brenda, a teen girl who had a horrible and near death experience last Halloween (Halloween Night), is trying to get back to her life and live as normal as possible. But soon, she gets an anonymous Halloween card depicting a menacing jack-o'-lantern sitting on blood with the words: Happy Last Halloween. And pretty soon Brenda starts to see terror and have reminders about last Halloween. And to make matters worse, her annoying cousin Halley is living with her, and she has an eye for everything that belongs to Brenda.  What I liked about this YA Halloween story was the feeling of Halloween and suspense. R.L. Stine is really good at horror and terror that doesn't cross over to the more dreadful side of things, which is why he is such a perfect writer for children and young adults. The ending is really cool, and I hope you all stick around for...

(Review) The Inhuman Condition (Books of Blood Volume 4) by Clive Barker

Image
The Inhuman Condition by Clive Barker 🎃🎃🎃🎃 Stories Include: The Inhuman Condition The Body Politic Revelations Down, Satan! The Age of Desire The Inhuman Condition aka Books of Blood Volume 4 is a solid work of Barker's niche when it comes to horror, monsters, and sexual pleasure that knows no limits, not even pain. My favorite story from The Inhuman Condition is Revelations. It is a story about an Evangelist, his nerve-wracked wife, and their driver, Earl, who on their way to a ministry make an emergency stop due to a storm and stay at a haunted motel known as the Slaughterhouse of Love. I don't want to reveal anymore or give it away, so you have to read this one. And who would have known a story about hands would be so damn creepy and scary and nerve wracking? Barker nomanaged to creep me the hell out in  The Body Politic. Let's just say that hands become rebellious and want freedom to roam. Down, Satan! is good, but really short. A rich and powerfu...

So, remember that ending from the first season of the best season of the American Horror Story series? Michael Langdon, the son unfortunate of Tate Langdon and Vivien, was...THE ANTI-CHRIST! And now he's back... Earlier this morning, FX revealed the title: Apocalypse, and it set to premier on September 12th! I always wanted Murder House to continue, and now my wish is here. The Walking Dead Season 9 Trailer!

Image
With Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) departing TWD after season 9, I'm not too enthusiastic about watching The Walking Dead anymore. I mean, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) are fantastic, but Rick Grimes is our anti-hero! But oh well, we still got him in the awesome comics. The trailer looks good. New faces, new threats, and lots of disagreements. Now is a Perfect Time to Talk About 'Sinister 3'

Image
With the spot-on casting for the adult Losers Club for It: Chapter 2 , and James Ransone being cast as the adult Eddie Kaspbrak , I think now is the time to talk about a third installment of Sinister . Sinister (directed and co-written by Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill ) was a successful film cashing in $77 million worldwide; $48 million of it came domestically. The film also scored an okay-percentage of 63% on Rotten Tomatoes . At the time it felt like a strong franchise was born again at Blumhouse , but that didn’t end up being the case. Sinister 2 (directed by Ciaran Foy   and written by Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill ) made $54 million worldwide—$27 million of it made domestically, and scored a gut-punching 13% on Rotten Tomatoes . I feel the actors did a great job, most notably James Ransone (Deputy So and So) and Shannyn Sossamon (Courtney Collins), and the atmosphere was cold and creepy, but there were definitely other things that made the pote...
