Info On My New Book: The Halloween Special

Image
This Halloween (obviously my favorite season and holiday) I plan to release a series of short horror stories that I'm calling: The Halloween Special . Leading up to the paperback release of the book, I will be releasing one short story a day as an eBook. Once all of the stories are released, I will release the paperback for sale. Here is a quick synopsis of my horror anthology The Halloween Special : It is Halloween in the dreaded town of Devil's Hill, Arizona. Residents of Devil's Hill know about the strange and supernatural phenomena that occurs in the town, but this Halloween it is much worse. Three young witches summon an ancient and evil deity inside of a scarecrow in order to reap the delicious delights the deity will offer in exchange for souls. But in the process, the deity completely diminishes the veil between the dead and the living and...Hell.  The Halloween Special contains individual short horror stories with their own monsters, killers, ghosts, ...

An Excerpt of 80s Horror, Monster Style Short Story 'Creature of the Pumpkin Patch' from Welcome to Devil's Hill

Image
Here is An Excerpt of my short story "Creature of the Pumpkin Patch" from the horror anthology Tales From Devil's Hill: Welcome to Devil's Hill [book one] By E. Reyes The night was dark and gloomy. The clouds had moved in, kicking up the wind and threatening rain at any minute. Haven’t been seen since July, lightning was flashing like trigger-happy paparazzi. Eric and Jake were setting the snacks and non-alcoholic drinks like soda and energy drinks on the table. Lyza and Tina were bringing the good stuff. “This Halloween season is probably the best, dude. I mean, when have you seen lightning during October other than horror flicks, right?” Jake exclaimed as he set down a bowl of nacho cheese tortilla chips. “Dude, definitely. Plus it hasn’t rained since, like, July. I really dig this horror vibe; it’s gonna go great with the movie tonight,” said Eric, placing the sour cream and onion dip on the coffee table. The doorbell rang. Jake opened the door, and...

🎃🎃🎃🎃/5 Book: The House by the Cemetery Author: John Everson Publisher: Flame Tree Press Release Date: October 6th, 2018 John Everson's new book The House by the Cemetery is a horror fan's cup of gore. Not only is this book a great read for Halloween that actually centers around Halloween, but it is also is a melting cauldron of genres like slasher, paranormal, fantasy, and drama. It is the ultimate horror book for enthusiastic fans of the genre like myself. The House by the Cemetery is about a man named Mike who accepts a job of rehabilitating an abandoned house (by a cemetery) that is believed to be haunted by the ghost of a witch, for a haunted house attraction. Soon weird things start happening, like dead animals, fresh blood, and phantom noises, and Mike finds out that the rumors may be true, and things get worse! John Everson I really enjoyed this story. John Everson served a well-written and intriguing story about a witch who will do anything for t...

The Nun is Back to Possess You! (Movie Review)

Image
🎃🎃🎃🎃/5 The Nun (2018) Directed by Corin Hardy Written by Gary Dauberman Starring Taissa Farmiga, Demián Bechir Nájera, Jonas Bloquet, and Bonnie Aarons. The Nun is a spin-off of 2016's The Conjuring 2, and serves as the fifth installment of the Conjuring Universe (my kind of Universe--sorry, Marvel). The movie follows Father Burke (Demián Bechir Nájera) and Catholic novitiate Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) as they uncover a secret after the suicide of a nun at a monestary in Romania in 1952. Taissa Farmiga and Demián Bechir give outstanding performances. Actually, everybody does, to be honest. The acting is well-done. The atmosphere of the movie is very gothic, chilling, cold, and unsettling. The evil-church sounding music that plays whenever Valak/The Nun shows up is so creepy. This movie has a lot of twists and turns, creepiness, and parts that are scary and chilling. And "Frenchie" was a very good comic relief anf character. Critics and fans ha...

(Spoiler-Filled Review) Hereditary is the Horror Movie of the Year!

Image
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃/5 Hereditary  (2018) Directed by Ari Aster Written by Ari Aster Starring Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, and Milly Shapiro. Hereditary  is the movie that everyone has been talking about. You've heard such quotes like, 'Scarier than  The Exorcist ' or 'Our generation's  The Exorcist'  and 'Scariest movie of the year', 'Horror movie of the year.' In my opinion,  Hereditary  is definitely scarier than  The Exorcist  (for me, I hold up  The Conjuring  higher on the scare level than  The Exorcist ), it's definitely movie of the year, and it has to be the scariest movie of the year. If you already didn't know,  Hereditary  is about a family who are in mourning after Annie's (Toni Collette) mentally ill mother passes away. As the grieving process continues, strange and otherworldly occurrences start to take place. And soon, Annie, her husband Steve (Gabriel Byrne), their son Peter (Alex ...

(Review) The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures by Aaron Mahnke

Image
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures by Aaron Mahnke The World  of Lore: Monstrous Creatures is a great book to have for any one who is a fan of folk tales, the supernatural, and the unexplained. Aaron Mahnke did thorough and noteworthy research on topics that include: vampires, the undead, ghosts, and creatures of the half-man, half-monster nature. I learned a lot from this book. And, honestly, this book has inspired me to write a vampire novel. So thank you very much, Aaron! Not only are the stories intriguing, scary, and goose flesh inducing (I had to stop reading a ghost story last night because I kept looking over my shoulder), but the artwork is awesome to look at. The pages include artwork by M.S. Corley . Go and get this book, now! Trust me.

New Trailer for Halloween (2018) is Nostalgic of Previous Films (Watch)

Image
The new (second) official trailer for David Gordon Green's  Halloween is here, and we get to walk with Michael. This trailer contains a scene that reminds me very much of Halloween II when Michael sneakily enters the home of an old couple and takes a kitchen knife that was being used for a sandwich. And check out the kids sporting those Silver Shamrock masks from Halloween III ! Halloween opens in theaters October 19th, 2018

Castle Rock - Episode 9: Henry Deaver (Spoilers)

Image
What in the time-traveling, other-dimension, parallel-universe hell is going on?! As if this show couldn't get any better, we get episode 9: "Henry Deaver" and, yes, it gets better. In this episode, we see a whole different Henry Deaver (Bill Skarsgård) who is not any trace of The Kid. In this parallel universe, Henry Deaver is working on a cure for dementia on a cat, he has a wife whom he's trying to start a family with, and he gets a call back home alerting him about the suicide of his father. And, oh! His mom, Ruth Deaver (Sissy Spacek) is good and gone from Castle Rock because she is living happily ever after with retired Sheriff Alan Pangborn in Florida. When Henry Deaver (Skarsgård) goes down into the basement to fix the electricity, he is surprised by the Henry Deaver of the other universe who disappeared years ago. It turns out Henry Deaver's dad had locked up the child because he had finally proven the existence of God, and felt that this child h...

Eminem is Chased by a Shadow in New Video for "Fall" Off His New Album Kamikaze

Image
Shady is back. Without warning, Eminem has dropped a video for his controversial song "Fall" this morning. The video finds Eminem being phone-bombed with notification alerts regarding his last album Revival which was met with more bad reviews than good. The Rap God has even insulted his own body of work. The video for "Fall" also finds Eminem being chased and hunted/haunted by a ghastly, shadowy figure. At the end, the figure possess Em, and I'm hoping we will get another Relapse -esque album where Eminem puts on his serial killer persona. If you see the time on Eminem's phone, it is 3 in the morning. Or, this could be the introduction to his song "Venom" for the Venom movie starting Tom Hardy. And on this song, Eminem goes for Joe Budden, Tyler the Creator, Akademiks, and, well, everyone. You wanted Shady? You got 'em. "Fall" is from Eminem's new album Kamikaze Watch the video below!
