Great News: King Thinks the New Pet Sematary is F-----g Great!

Image
(Image Courtesy of Joblo.com) We know what the critics were saying about the new adaption of Stephen King's terrifying novel Pet Sematary (directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis and Dennis Widmyer, but admittedly, we were all waiting for the master of horror himself to speak. Sitting with EW's Anthony Breznican for an interview , Stephen King talked about all things Pet Sematary ; from how the book was published, what inspired him to write it, why he wrote the screenplay for the 1989 film and his thoughts on the new adaption. (If you haven't read it, I urge you to do so!) Speaking on the new adaption of Pet Sematary , King said: "It’s f—ing great! It’s a really good movie. It’s a grown-up, adult kind of movie. It’s not like 12 semi-clad teens get killed in a summer camp. In this particular time frame, you know, there’ve been several movies that have been successful. Horror movies like Jordan Peele’s  Get Out  last year. And then I think when  Us  opens, I thi...

Return to Fear Street - Drop Dead Gorgeous by R.L. Stine (Review)

Image
R.L. Stine is the reason why I am here today horror blogging and writing my own stories. His books opened a whole new world for me; an escape into the unknown. He did that with Goosebumps, and he did it bloody with Fear Street . Fear Street is the more YA catered series, while Goosebumps  is for kids ages 8 to 12 (I still read them anyway). So when I read Fear Street, I liked it a lot more because a lot of the stories were slasher-like, especially with Stine's Point Horror books. So when R.L. Stine returned once again for some new Fear Street tales with Return to Fear Street I was excited! Drop Dead Gorgeous  is about a new girl in town named Morgan Marks who is very popular (especially with the guys), nice, smart, and very beautiful--the total package. But her past is a mystery, and soon, strange things start happening to the new people she befriends like murder. The secrets come crawling out the grave at the Shadyside Homecoming. Drop Dead Gorgeous- -like most o...

Unearthed & Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary (Review)

Image
My anticipation and excitement for the new adaption of Pet Sematary grows every day, so I have been watching clips of interviews with the actors, directors, and, you know, anything that can keep me juiced up. As I was browsing through Amazon Prime Video, I noticed that they had the documentary Unearthed & Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary (2017) presented by Terror Films. I immediately started watching it, and as a Pet Sematary and Stephen King fan, I was not disappointed. The documentary goes in depth about the production, locations (shot in King's home state of Maine), the make-up, prosthetics, and even the music. It is a wonderful look behind-the-scenes to director Mary Lambert's Pet Sematary (1989). There are interviews with the cast and crew including Dale Midkiff (Louis Creed), Denise Crosby (Rachel Creed), Brad Greenquist (Victor Pascow), Miko Hughes (Gage Creed), Blaze Berdahl (Rachel Creed), and more. Sadly, Fred Gwynne passed away in 1993, but we get to see...
