Cinematic Gold is Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (Review)

Image
Before we get into this review, I have been noticing a handful of sites--waving those headlines in our faces as clickbait--reaching so far to try and tarnish Quentin Tarantino and act as if Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is a so-so movie that's nothing more than white noise and boring images. Boy are those writers full of it. They are reaching so far. Far up their own *sses. And many of them are still bringing up the time when Tarantino rejected someone's hypothesis. Which, by the way, her hypothesis was indeed full of it because I thought Margot Robbie was wonderful as Sharon Tate . People are seriously reaching and it is really sad. Let me just say: Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is cinematic gold. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood follows aging actor Rick Dalton and his friend/stunt double Cliff Booth as they continue to work and hope for bigger jobs in Hollywood in the late '60s. The alternate timeline features Sharon Tate, Roman Polanski, Jay Sebring, and the i...

Texas Chainsaw 3D (Movie Review)

Image
Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013) Directed by John Luessenhop Starring Alexandra Daddario. Trey Songz, Tania Raymonde, and Scott Eastwood. As I was watching the titles of Texas Chainsaw 3D , and they were showing a sequence of the events that happened in the original film I was very excited. And when the movie opened to the events after the woman escaped Leatherface's chainsaw as she hopped on the truck I was even more excited. And as the movie opened to a shoot out with the Sawyer Family, I was beginning to think that this movie was going to be awesome. Boy, was I let down. Texas Chainsaw 3D is a direct sequel to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974). A young girl (lol) inherits her grandmother's home in Texas and finds out that she is related to the infamous Sawyer Family. First of all, that timeline. Okay, it is a direct sequel. The first movie was in 1974. Heather (Alexandra Daddario) is obviously not a thirty-nine-year-old woman as she would be. Instead, she is any...

'31' Movie Review

Image
31 (2016) 🎃🎃🎃 out of 5 Directed by Rob Zombie Starring Sheri Moon Zombie, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Larence Hilton-Jacobs, Meg Foster, Kevin Jackson, Richard Brake, and Malcolm McDowell. I have finally watched Rob Zombie's 31 , and I must say, it's not my favorite Zombie film, but it's also not as bad as a lot of people were saying it is. 31 follows a group of carnival workers who are kidnapped on Halloween night, taken to an abandoned factory, and are forced to participate in a 12-hour game of survival called 31. I was expecting the movie to be extremely gory, full of maniacal serial killers in Rob Zombie fashion, lots of Halloween decorations and at least a pumpkin or two, but instead, we got six killers--one is a dwarf with a Hitler/Nazi fetish, little to no Halloween decor (isn't it Halloween?), nothing really over the top, and...I don't know, I just wasn't so into it. The best parts of the movie--besides the weird sex scene--is Richard Brake...

The Haunted by Ed & Lorraine Warren, Robert Curran, and Jack and Janet Smurl (Book Review)

Image
🎃🎃🎃 of 5 The Haunted: One Family's Nightmare By Ed & Lorraine Warren and Robert Curran with Jack & Janet Smurl I'm a huge fan of Ed & Lorraine Warren and I'm always super intrigued and interested in almost anything and everything paranormal and occult. So I was really excited to read The Haunted , but I was left not disappointed just...bleh.  The Haunted is about the demonic haunting of the Smurls' family home. The family experienced banging and rappings in the wall, creatures materializing in the bathtub or in the shower, ghosts, shadow figures, phantom dogs, and even ordeals with a succubus and an incubus, respectively.  The book was okay, and the hauntings were pretty creepy, but I felt the book was extremely repetitive. It was almost getting hard to keep reading. If it weren't for how creepy some of the hauntings were, I would have gave the book one star and been done.  I'm a believer of the paranormal, but this book...

What I Have Been Up To

Image
Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. I'm here to give a small update and let you all know what is going on with me. I am currently writing a novel! I'm taking a break from writing another horror anthology to focus on my debut novel. I think it is definitely time to write and put out a novel. I have sharpened my writing skills, editing skills, and I have so many ideas and scenes in my head that are ready to leap onto this novel I'm writing. I don't want to release any details yet, but I will be letting you all know once I'm ready. I am also writing a very suspenseful, creepy, and unsettling short story for a Latinx anthology co-edited by V. Castro (author of Maria the Wanted) and Brian Lindenmuth (Associate publisher of Bronzeville). If you are a Latinx or AfroLatinx writer than you can enter and find out all of the details here . I am really excited about the story I'm writing! Other than that, I'm being a family man, working an...

I Loved Season 3 of Stranger Things (Spoilers)

Image
Netflix Original Series Stranger Things returned with a bang for July 4th's season 3 premiere (See what I did there? Bang? July 4th? Fireworks? Yeah). Not only did the show have some record-breaking views, but it was also a solid season with many twists, surprises, emotion, and gore. The relationship between Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) is strong, playful, and steady until Hopper (David Harbour) starts to feel uncomfortable and hilariously intervenes. Hopper is dealing with being the father of a teenage El and is finding a way to express his emotion with the help of Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) . Max (Sadie Sink)  and Lucas   (Caleb McLaughlin) are still together, always hanging out, but they don't seem like a couple. They also, like, never kiss and I think it's because Sadie Sink was so uncomfortable with the kissing scene in season 2 (she talked about it in the after show Beyond Stranger Things ). Nancy (Natalia Dyer)  and Jonathan ...

Hoping For A Director's Cut of Pet Sematary and Here Is Why

Image
I have no problem with the new Pet Sematary adaption, I'm one of the fans who loved the film, but it is obvious that maybe someone at Paramount was afraid to included extended and alternate scenes in the movie.  For instance, the ending of the theatrical release is much more...I wouldn't say campy or goofy, but it's a little dark-humorous. The whole family is zombies--minus Gage, but the ending implies that the family is about to kill the poor kid in order to resurrect him beyond the Pet Sematary.  In the alternate ending, the scene is quiet, dark, the music is creepy and slow, and we see a Louis Creed who is obviously haunted and destroyed by what he has done. You can see the loss of hope, the dread, and the remorse on his face. And having Rachel come in and say "Darling" to her husband is much creepier than her sending a rod through his chest from the back.  Another pivotal scene that was left out was the scene where Jud Crandall talks ab...

Ellie and Jud Scene is Much More Creepier in Extended/Alternate Scene

Image
Now, this is a scene that should have definitely stayed in the original cut. I had no problem with Ellie taking the form of Norma--it was really good, but in this extended/alternate scene, Ellie does what the resurrected Gage does in Stephen King's book. After Ellie (Jete Laurence) cuts Jud's (John Lithgow) Achille's tendon with Louis's scalpel, he falls to the ground from the stairs and the torment starts. Instead of taking the form of Norma, Ellie's eyes roll back in her head and her mouth opens crookedly. We hear the voice of Norma as she taunts and hurts Jud by saying she "did it with all his friends" and they all laughed at him. The book has a more explicit version of it. This scene is just so much creepier than the theatrical cut. This scene gave me goosebumps! I wasn't expecting it all. Pet Sematary is now available on DVD/Blu-ray/4K and Digital HD!

Extended Scene of Jud and Louis and...Norma

Image
There is an extended scene of the part when Louis (Jason Clarke) walks up to Jud (John Lithgow)  before he embarks on digging up his daughter and taking her beyond the Pet Sematary. This time, as Jud warns Louis about what he thinks he is planning to do, he tells him that he actually buried his late wife, Norma, in the burial ground. Jud shows Louis a nasty scar on his wrist and tells that Norma had done that. It cuts to a scene, and we see a knife go into Jud's wrist. We never get to actually see Norma, but we see her sitting down, back facing us, and a clothing iron seems to be smoking up. What I really wanted to see was the actual scene of Norma resurrected. I wanted to see how she looked, how she interacted with Jud, and how he got rid of her. I think they should have extended that Norma scene more since they totally gutted out the Timmy Baterman sequence and didn't even film it. I mean, in the trailer, she looked terrifying, But we didn't get this: ...
